TMJ

Some of the symptoms of TMD are:

1.Pain when opening or closing mouth
2.Trouble chewing
3.Jaw becoming stuck open or shut
4.Headaches or ear pain
5.Clicking or popping sounds when opening your mouth
6.Teeth Grinding

TMJ is the acronym for temporomandibular joint, which connects your lower jaw (the mandible) to your skull at the temporal bone. This joint controls many jaw functions, like chewing. If the chewing muscles or the joint itself are causing you pain you may have temporomandibulardisorder, or TMD. TMD can be caused by stress, continual clenching of the jaw muscles, or teeth grinding.

After the implant has healed it is time to place an abutment on the implant. The abutment serves as the base for your new tooth. One this is placed an impression of the abutment is taken and is used to create your permanent restoration. Some offices have an onsite lab to create the crown, but others will have to send it to an outside lab. Once the restoration is completed you can return to the office to attach the restoration permanently. Your smile will look just like it used to, and after a short period of getting used to the implant it will feel just like one of your own teeth.
